This project is part of my third-year studies at UCLan, under the module Design for Good. It reflects my values of empathy, sustainability, and connection with nature. The final goal is to inspire dialogue and action towards self-sufficient, regenerative homes.
This research-based project explores Earthships' potential as a sustainable housing solution. Combining psychological insight, interior design, and environmental awareness, it examines how off-grid architecture can support a healthier relationship between people and the planet.
The report and visual presentation include an in-depth analysis of Earthship principles, technical systems, and design strategies adapted for different climates and communities. Although this is not a design proposal, it sets the foundation for a future vision: designing and building an Earthship in Romania—possibly as part of a collaborative project with like-minded creatives, architects, or eco-conscious individuals.
This research-based project allowed me to explore the Earthship concept as a model for future sustainable housing. By analysing its construction principles, energy systems, and ecological design strategies, I gained valuable insights into self-sufficient living and circular design.
Although this is not a built project, the outcome was a comprehensive report and visual presentation that communicated Earthships' potential to inspire more sustainable interior and architectural design solutions.
This work helped me define my long-term ambition: to one day design and help build an Earthship home in Romania. I hope this exploration resonates with others with similar values, and I remain open to potential collaborations.
